A New Mural Is Coming to Bone Home, And It’s All About Our Dogs!
Something special is in the works at Bone Home, and this time, it’s not just for playtime!
As part of our expansion, we’re bringing a new mural to life inside the space, one that celebrates the dogs, the community, and the personality that makes The Bone Adventure what it is. This isn’t just a design upgrade; it’s a piece of art that reflects the energy and individuality of the dogs we see every day.
The project is headed by Jennie Cotterill, a Long Beach artist with 15 years of mural experience. She teaches in the Illustration Department at CSULB. The design for the mural was conceptualized and created by one of our very own employees, Niki Okimura. Jennie is adapting Niki’s artwork for the wall and instructing Niki and other Bone Adventure team members (Noah Tristan and Jacqueline Correa) in painting the mural with additional assistance from Sydney Kuster-Tabares and muralist Cynthia Lujan. Their vision for this project is centered around capturing the spirit of Bone Home: fun, welcoming, and full of life.
What makes this mural even more special is that it’s truly a team effort. Several Bone Adventure employees have been hands-on throughout the painting process, helping bring the vision to life brushstroke by brushstroke. Their involvement adds an extra layer of meaning. This isn’t just art on the wall, it’s something created by the very people who make Bone Home what it is every day.
And the best part? The mural will feature dogs from our very own Bone Adventure family!
From longtime regulars to some of our most recognizable faces, this wall will highlight the personalities that make our daycare so special. Each dog included has their own story, their own quirks, and their own place in our community. This mural is a way to celebrate that in a lasting, visual way.
We wanted this piece to feel personal, not just something you pass by, but something you connect with. Whether you’re dropping off in the morning, watching on our webcams, or picking up at the end of the day, it’s meant to be a moment of recognition, joy, and pride in being part of this community.
The mural is currently in progress, and we’ll be sharing updates on our social media as it comes to life! From early sketches to final details, we’re excited to bring you along for the process.
At The Bone Adventure, we’ve always believed this is more than just a daycare. It’s a community. This mural is a reflection of that.
