For The Love Of Dogs
The Bone Adventure Story
The Bone Adventure opened it’s doors in 2003. Now, with two Costa Mesa locations and over 60 employees, we are proud to be the dog care choice to thousands of individuals and families who have busy and demanding schedules but still want the companionship of a well-adjusted dog. Socialization and exercise are the primary factors contributing to a dog’s well being, and we strive to provide this in a safe, clean, and fun environment.
The company has had strong, but gradual growth, by design. The most important asset we have is our employees. It takes time for employees to learn this business, and we have selected people who not only love animals, but have the ambition and talent to be able to build an environment that maintains the “fun” factor, and also remains safe and clean for the dogs and our staff.

An Amazing Team Of Dedicated Professionals

Since stepping into a management role in 2019, it’s been an absolute joy to help care for your fur babies and ensure they get all the love, attention, and playtime they deserve. And if you’ve ever glanced into the office, you might’ve caught a glimpse of my trusty assistant, Teddy—my Shih Tzu mix—holding down the fort while I’m away. He takes his job (and his naps) very seriously!

In my free time, I love baking (cookies are my specialty!), traveling (South America is my favorite <3), spending time with friends, building Lego kits, and being outdoors. One of my favorite things to do is go on hikes with my sweet, crazy girl, Lucyfur (my 7 year old lab/pit mix). If you see me while dropping off your pup, please let me know if you have any hiking spot suggestions!
The Bone Adventure History
Our Amazing Journey All For The Dogs
The Bone Adventure celebrated our 20th anniversary with the Paws in the Park event. We had the pleasure of having local businesses, our staff, and clients celebrate our wonderful first 20 years!
During the pandemic, we took the opportunity to update our facilities. With the help of our employees, both locations removed and updated our K9 grass. The Bone Backyard switched the little dog yard into the new Littles Lawn, with a brand new in ground water feature! We expanded the Duke’s…

The Bone Adventure added a whole new section to our facility; The Swim Club opened its doors on September 24, 2018! We started the Swim Club as just a stunning in-ground pool. In 2019, we finished for our 40-foot-long dock, and our dock diving lessons began!
We added two additional tubs for bathing and built the grooming building dedicated for haircuts. The new, spacious, and air-conditioned building includes two new grooming tables, a drying station, and ample space for the dogs to relax after their haircuts!
Named after the old Flowerdale Nursey, the Greenhouse is a 1260 sq foot indoor and outdoor building. This area includes twin size beds for our little dogs to lounge around, extra feeding dens, and a spacious yard for our little dogs to play!
The Bone Adventure had grown to the point we needed to expand. We noticed the old Flowerdale Nursery had recently been vacated. The area was big and fit our vision for expansion. After months of construction and working through permits, our Bone Adventure Backyard location officially opened in February 2011!
Tracy, our magnificent grooming manager, joined The Bone Adventure in 2005 and developed our grooming department! This brought our business to advance through the next 5 years.
The company was founded by Diane Cuniff in 2003. We started off with just two dogs per day and by December, we were averaging about 20 dogs per day! By January 2004, our company had grown and so did the needs of our customers. The Bone Adventure began offering boarding…
